ALLERGIC CONTACT DERMATITISContact Dermatitis is an allergic reaction of the skin developed by some people as a result of their exposure to contact allergens. These substances are generally harmless to non allergic. The picture of contact Dermatitis is that of itching (eczematous) eruption localized to the spot where the allergen comes in contact with the skin. This produces what can sometimes be recognized as an artificial pattern and sometimes an eruption indistinguishable from other eczemas.PATCH TESTING Patch testing is fast achieving professional recognition and acceptance as an important tool in investigating contact dermatitis. It is a unique, direct "in vivo" test independent of any laboratory procedure. High reliability is achieved through use of highly purified, standard test substances.Chemotechnique Diagnostics offers the widest range of commercially available allergens for patch testing covering more than 350 different allergens. In cooperation with various national Contact Dermatitis Research Groups a number of country specific Standard Series are available in addition to our normal range. The substances with a petrolatum vehicle (Penreco Snow White, considered being the purest on the market) are supplied in 5 ml polypropylene syringes, while those in a liquid solution are supplied in 8 ml polypropylene dropper bottles; either way we strive to produce the purest and most homogeneous, contamination free allergens.GETTING STARTED There are three ways of ordering Chemotechnique patch test allergens: from the 25 series; individual allergens from the 350+ allergens available; or customize your own "series" from the available allergens to meet the specific needs of your practice.Recent additions include: 2 new patch test allergen series: NORTH AMERICAN SCREENING SERIES NA-1000, NORTH AMERICAN PHOTO SCREENING SERIES NAP-1000.
